Punk albumn gone Broadway musical

American Idiot by Green Day is coming to Broadway. The idea came to Michael Mayer who was great influenced by the bands music in his highschool days. The story is about three bestfriends and the hard times that life has given them. It premiers April 21 and is 90 minutes long. Theirs a lot of hype for this musical and for alot of reason, nothing like this has ever been done before. Billy Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of the band, said “It was so cutting edge and different and current. And there was also something reminiscent of Jesus of Suburbia in the songs and anguish of John’s character.”

Oscar results

This years Oscars was filled with mixed results from viewers. Best Picture went to Hurt Locker which surprised many people including, director of Avatar James Cameron. Hurt Locker also beat Cameron in best director which went to Kathryn Bigelow. Many people wonder hwo this was possible, but i believe the emotional effect Hurt Locker provided propelled it to the top. Avatar was indeed stunning. The special effects were mind blowing, and it’s obcious to see why it got such great results. But when you really think about the story line of Avatar it reminds me a little of Disney classic Pokahauntis. It’s just something for all you Avatar fans to think about, and it proves that independant film makers still have a chance.

Seaworld incident

A few days ago 40 year old trainer Dawn Brancheau was killed by a 12,000 pound killer whale. Witnesses say that the trainer was rubbing the whale from a high platform when suddenly it grabbed Dawn by the hair and pulled her into the water. The witness said the whale acted like she was a toy, pushing and poking her with her nose. Sea World has decided to keep the animal, because it has been in captivity to long to release and is to important for breeding to kill. Sea World has decided that they will no longer be allowing VIP guest to come and interact with the animals, because it is obviously to dangerous. The strange thing about this is, that a few years earlier at another park the same whale was involved with another death of a trainer. If it were me I would no longer be using this whale in any shows, and strictly use it for breeding purposes only.

Cloning

Many people consider cloning a very controversial subject, but many people’s views for cloning stop at human cloning. The ability to clone animals and food in large abundances could help save our planet. Think about this, no more world hunger, or saving species of animals before they go extinct. All this is possible through cloning. The ability to clone food means we don’t have to wait for vegetables and other crops to grow. This would not only help our country, but other third world countries who are desperate for food. Also the ability to clone animals can solve the hunger problem to. This is just one type of cloning their is also the potential to clone organs for transplants. We would no longer depend on organs from donations when we could just grow them. Many many lives could be saved from this technology. So cloning critics just a little to think about before you make your decision.

Since last fall, Toyota has recalled millions of cars for electrical problems, and accelerator pedals being stuck. This problem has caused the death and injury of many people, and Toyota is willing to take the time to solve this. They say that simply replacing the mats on the floor of the car will stop your pedal from sticking in most cases. Toyota says that they will be now installing a new brake system that can override an out of control car. In my opinion Toyota is still one of the safest and reliable car companies available today. The Toyota Prius is one of the most reliable cars on the road today according to consumers and reviews, and is extremely fuel efficient.

Afghan War

Their have been many interviews lately with soldiers in Afghanistan about how the war is going. LT. Col. Todd Vician was one of these soldiers, and his comments brought relief to the men in Washington. He talked of little resistance lately from the Taliban, and it seemed that their attacks were very uncoordinated. Lately the soldiers have been used to clear mines and I.E.D.’s, and he also responded saying that people have been returning to their normal lives, and that the operations here are going perfect based on the plan we were given. I’m not going to lie I had doubts about this from the beginning I thought we should start removing troops since the Afghan troops are more than adequately trained. Our efforts should be to hunt down the remaining high ranking members of the Taliban. To the people that agree with my ideas I have good news the US government released a statement saying that they have captured the most significant Taliban figure yet. Hopefully things in Afghanistan keep on this pace, and our troops will be home as soon as possible.

Winter Olympics

The Olympics are a few days old, and already the US is the medal leader with two golds, two silvers, and four bronze. Our two golds have come in snowboard cross and in ladies freestyle skiing. The men’s snowboarding cross was one by Seth Wescott. In the final race Seth was well behind the three other competitors until the last two turns where he pulled ahead, won by mere inches. Seth then went and hugged his parents, and took a US flag from them and draped it around his shoulders and cried.

Although this Olympics has been filled with joy it’s also had much sorrow. A tragic accident happened when a young Georgian luger crashed. His name was Nodar Kumaritashivilli, and during one of his practice runs he went flying off of the course and into a poll. It was said he was going over 90 miles per hour, and the amount of G forces being exerted on his body caused him to not be able to break. Funeral events were held for the young man the other evening.

Church accused of child trafficking in Haiti

Ten American Baptist will appear in court today on charges of child trafficking. These people were supposedly taking 33 Haitian orphans across the border to the Dominican Republic to a better orphanage they had set up. When the group approached the border and were asked for their papers, they replied that they didn’t have the necessary papers, they were then taken immediately taken to a Haitian prison. The group said they had permission from all the orphanage, but soon officials found out that many of these children still had parents. I personally believe that these people were trying to do the right thing, but had very bad preparation and it ultimately cost them. Groups like these usually do more harm then good it seems, I mean the fact that some of these kids had parents looking for them, and they were planning on taking them across the border is just really sad.
